Service and Missions
Missions allow students to develop a deeper understanding of God’s love for all people of the world.聽聽The nature of these experiences – interaction with other cultures, reflection, discussion, and service – produce a teachable arena where a student’s ideology and understanding of scripture come face to face with the world.聽 In that place the compassion of Jesus can be learned; the Kingdom of God can be recognized, and a lifestyle of mission and servanthood can be developed.
Why We Serve
At HCU we believe that we should be holistic in our faith. We not only sharpen our theology but we apply our faith in our daily lives. Matthew 25: 34-40 states,
鈥淭hen the King will say to those on his right, 鈥楥ome, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.鈥 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 鈥楲ord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?鈥 And the King will answer them, 鈥楾ruly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.鈥
